The 12th Street Rat Bastard Soap Box Derby is an, at least, annual race and celebration geared towards the growing art community in Downtown Kansas City. It was a creative and flamboyant explosion set against the backdrop of the austere and beautiful neighborhood of the West Bottoms.
The race took place on Sunday July 23rd, 2006. There will be another in the Summer of 2007.
A nod should be given to all the racers. You know who you are.
To Misty and Dave at Priscilla's, where fun and fantasy meet, your sponsorship helped immensely. We could not have kept everyone happy without you.
Thanks to everyone who came out to watch and participate. There will be more to come and help is always needed. The event was free and we like it that way. Next time around, I would like to give back to the community, so if you know of a community organization that would like to be involved and receive donations, please contact me at njumara@yahoo.com
Thanks to Red Bull for providing necessary refreshments.
Special thanks to: Matt for the photos, Emily for the red scarf, Josh, Mack for the truck, Israel for the decals, Bill Drummond for the announcements and the bullhorns, Tyler for all the announcements, whoever moved the Road Closed signs, and Mom and Dad.
To Phil, Ryan, and Kelly, none of this would have been possible without you.
