GUS AND FRED SMASH THE TV:
a TV opera for an unclean age
Written and Directed by Harold Lehmann
Set by Samantha Lopez Uhthoff
Video by Evin Watson
Featuring Jim Ford, Alex Kipp, and Robert Weinstein
Gus and Fred Smash the TV tells the story of a couple
of slackers who climb inside their TV set searching
for the show that reveals their true identities. Gus
and Fred Smash the TV combines elements of Brechtian
alienation, physical theatre, and video collage
against a driving poetic text.
“So very smart and entertaining that you will have a
really good time, … a terrific example of how alive
the theater scene is…. Kick back and get ready to
laugh.” — Robin Reed, nytheatre.com review of
HAVE U SEEN MY SOUL? (2004)
